3. Comments on Sanction Imposed by Japan Data Bank
On September 3, 2003, we received a notification from JDB (Note 1) that they
temporarily suspended the provision of personal credit information only to the
Loan Administration Department at our head office (Note 2) , in response to the
leaking through our Company of certain personal credit data obtained from JDB
during March 1998 through June 2001.
The leak in question was the work of a single former employee, Mr. Kazuhiro
Nakagawa, who acted in contravention of our company's internal rules, and was
subsequently arrested on May 20, 2003 on suspicion of attempting to extort money
and rearrested on June 10, 2003 also on suspicion of misappropriation of
documents including credit information. We would like to deeply apologize for
any concern caused to our customers and the public as a result of this
unfortunate event.
For further information, please refer to the latest Comment on our web site.
Note:
(1)JDB is one of 33 data banks, which altogether form nationwide credit
information center in Japan and covers only 5 Prefectures in Japan such as
Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba and Ibaraki.
(2)Loan Administration Department at our head office in Shinjuku, engages in
collection of bad debts previously written-off and does not engage in providing
any loans to customers.

4.Comment on the decision by the public prosecutor's office in the labor
standards case
On Sep.16, 2003, the Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office decided to take
no legal action in the case alleging an infringement of the labour standards law
by Takefuji Corporation over unpaid overtime, originally filed with the
prosecutor by the Osaka Labor Standards office on July 29th.
Based on comments first received from the Osaka Labour Standards Office in
January 2003, Takefuji has already acknowledged that its internal practices
in relation to overtime remuneration were inadequate, and has been working
diligently to rectify the situation. We have carried out a thorough companywide
investigation of all the issues involved, in line with the Osaka Labour
Standards Office's guidance, and have introduced comprehensive procedures which
should ensure that there is no reoccurence of this problem. Specifically, we
have set up a special committee on working practices to amend our internal
workplace rules and to carry out a thorough review of employee time management
procedures. We have also paid in compensation for past instances of unpaid
overtime: all current employees have already been compensated for any such
overtime worked in the last two years, and we have almost completed the process
of contacting and compensating former employees with similar claims. We take the
criticisms which we have received from the authorities in this matter with the
utmost seriousness, and are committed as a company to ensuring that there is
absolutely no cause in future for us once again to be found in breach of any
applicable law or regulation.
For further information, please refer to the latest Comment on our web site.

5. Update on our Credit Card Business
As we reported in the July issue of our monthly IR report, we have been
promoting a nation-wide campaign aiming at increasing the number of taxicabs to
10,000 or 100 taxicab companies where Takefuji's "Keitai-Kureka", our credit
card settlement service for designated mobile phones using infrared
communication system to be installed by the end of March 2004. In addition to
Tokyo and Nagoya areas where such taxicabs equipped with Takefuji's mobile
terminal have already been on service, we plan to expand our network after this
autumn in various areas in Japan such as Osaka, Hyogo, Fukuoka, Hiroshima and
Hokkaido as well as Yokohama and Chiba.
Moreover, we intend to make an effort to aggressively introduce our new
epoch-making tool not only to taxicab companies that have not used this service
yet but also to other automobile-related companies in the future.
