Publishing Management Changes Announced at Time Inc.; New
Publishers Named at Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly;
New Cluster of Magazines Formed NEW YORK, Nov. 17
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Time Inc. Chairman & CEO Ann Moore
announced some major executive appointments at the company today.
Fabio Freyre was named Group Vice President, Corporate Sales &
Marketing. He had been Publisher of Sports Illustrated. Succeeding
Freyre as Sports Illustrated's Publisher is Dave Morris, who was
Publisher of Entertainment Weekly. Paul Caine will be Entertainment
Weekly's new Publisher; he had been Publisher of Teen People. Cathy
O'Brien, most recently Vice President and General Manager of
Entertainment Weekly, will be taking on a new role as Group
Publisher of the newly established Growth Markets Group, which will
comprise Teen People, People en Espanol, Time For Kids, Sports
Illustrated for Kids, gathering the company's expertise in youth
and ethnic markets. Moore said, "What distinguishes Time Inc. from
its competitors is the diversity of its titles and the depth of its
talent. This advantage enables us to consistently have the right
resources in the right places at the right times to ensure the
company's continued growth, which is why I'm particularly delighted
to announce these new appointments." In his new position at
Corporate Sales and Marketing, Freyre, 42, will oversee the
corporate sales force, working with Time Inc.'s largest
advertisers. According to Time Inc. Executive Vice President Jack
Haire, "Fabio's longstanding relationship with major marketers and
his innate feel for their marketing needs is bound to pay large
dividends-for them and us." In this new capacity, Freyre will
spearhead the development of a men's network initiative that will
involve working with all Time Inc. titles (including Time4 Media's
and the business magazines) that primarily appeal to a male
audience. As part of this effort, he will work with advertising
clients to develop new strategies to deliver the elusive 18-34
year-old males, currently deserting t.v. in droves. During his
15-years with Time Inc., Freyre has held several senior sales
positions at Sports Illustrated. He graduated from Hamilton College
in 1983 with a B.A. degree. He and his wife, Amy, live in New
Canaan, Conn., with their six children. Former Entertainment Weekly
Publisher Morris brings an impressive track record to his new post
as SI Publisher. "Dave is a savvy, strategic publisher, who will
fit in well at Sports Illustrated," said Bruce Hallett, President
of Sports Illustrated. Prior to joining Entertainment Weekly in
1991, Morris, 43, was a New York division sales manager at People
magazine, where he had been a member of the sales staff since 1986.
A graduate of St. Anselm College, Morris lives in Westchester with
his wife and three children. Entertainment Weekly's new Publisher,
Paul Caine, 39, was a leading member of the Teen People launch
team. Earlier in his career, he served as People's Associate
Publisher. Entertainment Weekly President Andy Sareyan said, "Paul

transition to EW and will do an outstanding job as publisher here."
Before joining Time Inc. in September 1989, Caine worked for USA
Today and J. Walter Thompson. A graduate of Indiana University with
a B.S. in Business Communication, Caine was named to the
Telecommunications Alumni Hall of Fame in 2000. He resides in
Tenafly, New Jersey, with his wife and their three children. As
Group Publisher of the Growth Markets Group, O'Brien, 44, will lead
the effort to enable Teen People, People en Espanol, Time for Kids
and Sports Illustrated for Kids to benefit from some of the
company's best talent and expansive pool of resources. According to
Time Inc. Executive Vice President, Nora McAniff to whom she'll
report, "Cathy is an accomplished publishing professional. Given
her breadth of experience at the company, she is the ideal person
to head this new organization." Prior to joining Entertainment
Weekly in 1999, O'Brien was Vice President of Business Development
at Time Inc. A CPA, she joined Time Inc.'s Corporate Finance
Division in 1983 after serving as a senior auditor for two years at
Touche Ross. O'Brien graduated from Rutgers University in 1981 with
a B.A. degree in Accounting. She and her husband, Steve O'Brien, a
broadcaster, reside in Atlantic Highlands, N.J. Time Inc. is the
