Business Wire
Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (AMEX:TWW), Equinix, Inc. (NASDAQ:EQIX),
Switch and Data (NASDAQ:SDXC), AMS-IX and DE-CIX today announced
the second main event in their bi-annual Global Peering Forum
series, to be held March 25-30, 2007 in Miami, Florida. The Annual
Global Peering Forums are designed to bring together peering
coordinators from North America, South America, Europe and Asia in
a neutral environment to discuss the interconnection of their
autonomous networks. Included in the upcoming event in March are
in-depth presentations from industry experts on peering rollouts,
policies, trends and general technical topics of interest to the
peering coordinator community. More than 160 peering experts are
expected to attend the Forum, including: Josh Snowhorn - Director
of Peering for Terremark Worldwide Eric Troyer Director of
Peering Services for Equinix Ali Marashi CIO for Switch and Data
Henk Steenman CTO for AMS-IX Harald Summa CEO for DE-CIX The
Forum will give delegates an opportunity to talk about different
peering policies and peering economic models as well as to meet the
faces behind the corporate names. Participants at the March forum
include peering coordinators from Sprint, AT&T, China Telecom,
Brasil Telecom, France Telecom, Yahoo!, Google, Limelight Networks,
Microsoft, Telecom Italia, British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and
Akamai, among others. Peering is defined as a way to exchange data
between IP networks on primarily a settlement free basis. Network
providers such as AT&T, Sprint and others own high-speed
connections that make up the Internet. These providers transfer
data between each other at locations called peering points or
Internet Exchanges. At these sites the networks meet through
interconnection of their backbone routers and exchange traffic with
one another over so called layer-2 infrastructure. These systems
are globally tied together by connecting high-capacity fiber optic
lines owned by network service providers. Attendance at the forum
is by invitation only and limited to peering coordinators. Further
information can be found at www.peeringforum.com. About Terremark
