Spain is one of the largest iGaming markets in Europe. The country’s gambling sector started to pick up across all verticals in the early 2010s, shaping up as one of the leaders on the continent. Spain has had successful years of growth ever since it started developing gambling licenses and expanding into all verticals of the experience, including lotteries, betting, iGaming and bingo.

In 2020, the Spanish Gambling Regulator (DGOJ) published that the country’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2019 hit €748.24 million or 7.04% growth year-over-year. Growth was noted down across all key verticals with casinos and online poker leaping forward. While 2020 has proven a more challenging year for the industry, gross revenue still has done well, despite market difficulties and regulatory headwinds.

More importantly, the companies that are considered bidding players in the market have decided to hold their ground and expand their clout in Spain, anticipating another growth spur as soon as regulatory wrinkles are ironed out and most of the restrictions are lifted.

The company was founded in 2011 and is generating an estimated $2.61 million in sales according to publicly available information. The Suertia Interactiva SA corporate family reunites three brands, one of which is Suertia.es, the online portal that the company maintains to extend the aforementioned range of gambling products.

The casino generated $101.85 million in sales and the entire corporate family encompasses 60 companies, DNB reports. As a licensed operator on the Spanish gambling market, Gran Casino de Barcelona SL and its trademark, Casino Barcelona, operate a number of player-favorite products, including but not limited to poker, games, bets and interactive casino.

Grupo Codere is a gambling behemoth operating out of Spain with strong presence in many Spanish-speaking markets around the world. Rank Group is one of the best known names in the iGaming and recreational gaming sector. With operations in multiple verticals, including but not limited to bingo, slots and table games, casino, and slotjava casinos online, Rank Group remains a market leader around the world, and in Spain.

The company currently operates enracha.es an established and highly-regarded gaming portal offering a number of products, ranging from interactive gambling to sports betting opportunities. The website holds a license from DGOJ and is recognized as an established entity in the country.

Rank Group still generates only a fraction of its revenue in Spain, with 7% of the company’s gross gaming revenue coming from the Spanish market, but it remains dedicated and focused on expanding further in the country.

Presently, the Group says that it has nine gaming-focused venues across Catalonia, Madrid, Andalucía and Galicia. Enracha is the Group’s first digital foray in the country launched in May 2018 with the help of QSB Gaming Limited, which the Group acquired to pave its way into the country.
