Alterra Mountain Company is preparing to welcome the world to Utah when Deer Valley Resort hosts events of the Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City-Utah 2034. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made the announcement early this morning from Paris, confirming that the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 bid has been successful. As part of the 2034 Olympic Winter Games, Deer Valley will host the freestyle skiing events, including moguls and aerials, marking a continuation of its long-standing tradition of commitment to winter sport development.

The selection of Deer Valley as a venue for the 2034 Olympic Winter Games coincides with the destination's Expanded Excellence™ initiative. This collection of projects aims to evolve and elevate the Deer Valley experience for future generations and will be ready to showcase to the world in 2034. Highlights include over doubling the existing skiable terrain, the development of the new Deer Valley East Village, a transformation of the Snow Park base area, and the revitalization of existing facilities. More information on these projects can be found at Expanded Excellence.

“We are extremely excited to help welcome the world to Utah for the 2034 Olympic Winter Games,” said Jared Smith, President & CEO, Alterra Mountain Company. “By 2034, Deer Valley will have been reimagined to become an even more spectacular destination, offering nearly 5,000 acres of skiable terrain, the new Deer Valley East Village, and the transformational Snow Park base area.”

Deer Valley, renowned for its world-class guest service and elite international ski competitions, previously hosted the freestyle events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and has since been the site of numerous international competitions, including the 2003, 2011, and 2019 World Championships and 21 FIS World Cups.

“We are honored to be confirmed as an official venue for the 2034 Olympic Winter Games,” said Todd Bennett, President and COO of Deer Valley. “Our collaboration with the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 organizing committee has been excellent, and we look forward to further strengthening this partnership as we prepare for the games’ return to Utah. We are proud of our commitment to sport and our legacy of hosting 26 years of international ski competitions.”
