“Tri Delta is proud to earn the distinction as the first Greek
organization to raise $100 million for St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital. Our members reached this historic milestone by pouring
their hearts and souls into grassroots fundraising for a truly
worthy cause. They remain a powerful reflection of our founding
commitment to service and kindness,” Tri Delta Fraternity President
Megan James said. “We are proud to partner with this incredible
research hospital that is fiercely committed to ending childhood
cancer once and for all.”
Tri Delta’s impact on the St. Jude community is felt by patient
families who rely on Tri Delta Place, short-term patient housing
with 64 hotel-style rooms and 36 suites. Conveniently located on
the St. Jude campus, these rooms provide a comfortable “home away
from home” for patient families while their children receive
treatment at St. Jude.
"The extraordinary generosity, passion, and dedication of the
young women of Tri Delta have resulted in an absolutely remarkable
milestone — $100 million raised for St. Jude. We are so immensely
grateful,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC,
the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital. "The funds raised by Tri Delta help St. Jude
provide customized care for some of the world’s sickest children
and give children with cancer a chance to live their best life and
celebrate every moment.”
Founded in 1888, Tri Delta has initiated more than 340,000
women. Today, there are nearly 250,000 members at 138 higher
education institutions and 214 alumnae chapters throughout the U.S.
and Canada. Its core ideals include truth, self-sacrifice and
friendship. Tri Delta leads the way and often sets the standard on
important issues facing women, including body image, mental health,
non-discrimination, collegiate housing, leadership development and
governance.
About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the
world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other
life-threatening diseases. Its purpose is clear: Finding cures.
Saving children.® It is the only National Cancer
Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to
children. When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was
largely considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push
the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and it won't
stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude shares the
breakthroughs it makes to help doctors and researchers at local
hospitals and cancer centers around the world improve the quality
of treatment and care for even more children. Because of generous
donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment,
travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child
live. Visit St. Jude Inspire to discover powerful St. Jude stories
