China has placed a hold on the purchase of 10 A330 long-haul jets made by Airbus in response to the European Union's new levies on aviation greenhouse emissions, Reuters reported Thursday on its website, citing two people familiar with the matter.

Airbus said recently that China's orders of 45 planes, including 35 A330 planes and ten A380 aircraft, were suspended.

Airbus declined comment to Reuters.
