Brazilian mining magnate Eike Batista intends to open up the capital of his oil offshore-services company, OSX, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday.

According to the company, the idea is to raise up to $3 billion on financial markets by February.

Batista said OSX is worth around $4 billion.

Batista has also said he was taking more interest in gold and had bought two gold deposits in Colombia.

The mining billionaire said he would set up a dedicated gold company called AUX, with initial investment of $2 billion to $3 billion.

Batista made his initial fortune in buying and selling gold from the Upper Amazon region.

Batista is now the owner of mining firm MMX Mineracao e Metalicos SA (MMXM3.BR), logistics company LLX Logistica SA (LLXL3.BR) and oil and gas company OGX (OGXP3.BR), among other assets.
