Pepco Energy Services, a unit of Pepco Holdings Inc. (POM), was
awarded a $5 billion energy-savings performance contract by the
U.S. Department of Energy.
The DOE announced 16 $5 billion contracts last month as part of
an effort to improve energy efficiency, renewable energy and
water-conservation projects at federal government buildings.
Other companies awarded include other Chevron Energy Solutions,
a unit of Chevron Corp. (CVX), Honeywell International Inc. (HON),
Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) and Lockheed Martin Inc. (LMT).
Pepco said Monday that under the program it will conduct energy
audits and identify improvements intended to save energy at
government buildings. The company then will design and build
products to meet the customers' needs.
Pepco's shares were recently up 0.4% at $18.32.
