23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- JDSU, the leading enabler of broadband
and optical innovation, announced today that is showcasing a series
of next generation high power diode lasers at Photonics West, the
world's largest optics and photonics event. JDSU will display its
products at Booth #927 on January 23 - 25, 2007 at the San Jose
Convention Center in San Jose, California. Products at the event
will include additions and enhancements to JDSU's L3 series of
fiber-coupled diode lasers, illustrating the company's commitment
to providing its customers with more powerful telecom-grade
products at affordable industrial prices. Products include the
flagship 8 Watt 6397-L3 diode laser that provides an unsurpassed
combination of power, reliability and brightness for next
generation fiber laser architectures. For Neodymium (Nd)- doped
solid state laser and medical systems, the 5 Watt 2495-L3 Series
provides a highly reliable, 808nm fiber-coupled pump laser
alternative. "A transition is underway within the industrial laser
industry towards highly reliable, telecom-grade diode pump lasers,"
said Toby Strite, manager, High Power Laser Marketing at JDSU. "The
extensions we've made to our industry-leading L3 platform
reinforces that JDSU is at the forefront of this trend." Diode
lasers that JDSU will showcase at the event include: -- 6397-L3
Series High-Power 8 Watts 9xx nm Fiber-Coupled Diode Laser. This
next generation single emitter laser diode delivers 8 Watts from a
105m fiber at three wavelengths: 915 nm, 940nm, and 975nm. Used
for a variety of industrial and medical applications, the 6397-L3
laser extends JDSU's industry leading fiber laser pump power by
more than 20 percent. -- 2495-L3 Series 808 nm Fiber-Coupled Diode
Laser provides the highest available 808nm power at 5 Watts from a
105m fiber. Used for pumping Nd-doped solid state lasers and a
variety of medical and dental applications, the 2495-L3 laser
offers a highly reliable alternative to fiber-coupled diode laser
arrays. -- 2486-L3 Series 830nm Fiber-Coupled Diode Laser offers 2
Watts from a 60m fiber into 0.2 Numerical Aperture (NA), ideal for
photonics power and graphic arts applications. -- 6395-L3 Series
940nm Fiber-Coupled Diode Laser offers 2.5 Watts from a 50m fiber
into 0.2 NA, ideal for graphic arts and materials processing
applications. -- 5400 Series J-package extends JDSU's 8xx nm
single-mode diode laser portfolio into a reduced-cost, small
form-factor package. Used for a variety of graphic arts, night
vision and spectroscopic applications, the J-package device is
available at three wavelengths: 810nm, 830nm and 850nm and two
rated output powers: 50mW and 100mW. In addition, JDSU diode laser
experts are presenting two key papers during the show: "High-Power,
High-Efficiency Laser Diodes at JDSU." This presentation will take
place on Monday, January 22 at 2:40 p.m. PST in SJCC Room J3. "Very
High Power 1330nm InP Single Mode Distributed Feedback Laser Diode
with Reduced Linewidth." This presentation will occur on Monday,
January 22 at 3:40 p.m. PST in SJCC Room A5. About JDSU JDSU
