New DTS-330 Feature, on Display at IBC 2006, Conducts Early Stress
Testing of Triple-Play Services Network Equipment to Ensure Quality
Service MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- JDSU (Nasdaq:
JDSU; and TSX: JDU) today announced the addition of a new
capability to its industry-leading and award-winning digital and IP
video test instrument, the DTS-330. Called JDSU's SimulSource IP
Video Generation Application, this software tool helps network
equipment manufacturers (NEMs) verify equipment for IPTV and other
triple-play service deployment by identifying and troubleshooting
issues or improving performance before it is shipped. It also
supports network operators in their research and development
(R&D) labs by stress testing equipment -- including IP
transport equipment, edges devices, routers, switchers and IP
multicasters -- to ensure reliability and efficiency before turning
up advanced network video services. The new SimulSource IP Video
Generation Application, in addition to the JDSU's complete
portfolio of IPTV and IP video test and measurement solutions for
the broadcast industry, will be on display at IBC 2006 in
Amsterdam, September 8-13, stand 1.215. The ability for NEMs and
operators to conduct stress test and verification on their own
allows them to adjust, troubleshoot, and improve performance before
equipment is deployed in the network. SimulSource IP Video
Generation Application supports this by generating hundreds of IP
video test streams typically involved in a network carrying IP
Video services, allowing NEMs to verify and stress test equipment
using many types of encapsulation and signal layer analysis (MPEG,
upper and lower layer protocol) for a full view of the equipment's
performance. With SimulSource, the DTS-330 can also perform
testing/verification of both the output and input of multiple
aggregated IP video streams over a Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) pipe,
enabling peak performance and the transmission of the maximum
amount of allowable data. "In today's competitive environment where
quality of service is a significant factor in successfully
delivering services such as IPTV, assuring the performance of
network equipment is a high priority for providers and NEMs. JDSU
is launching SimulSource IP Video Generation Application to help
ensure that network equipment is tested and analyzed early and in
the best shape possible," said Sudeep Bose, JDSU's global product
manager for the digital video test and measurement product line.
"Its ability to validate and stress test equipment gives customers
confidence that the equipment is performing optimally and able to
effectively support the delivery of exceptional quality IPTV
service when it ships." More about the DTS-330 at IBC 2006 JDSU's
DTS-330 is a proven test product, deployed throughout the industry
to ensure efficient and reliable deployment of advanced digital and
IP video services, such as video on demand, IPTV or digital video
broadcast, for satellite, broadcast, telecommunications or cable
providers around the world. The new SimulSource IP Video Generation
Application feature builds on several recent enhancements to the
DTS-330 that will be featured at this year's IBC conference. About
