Irish Life & Permanent plc announces two key appointments


New Chief Executives appointed to run permanent tsb bank and Retail Division of
Irish Life.


Embargo: 11.30am Friday 2nd November 2007. Irish Life & Permanent plc has
announced two key executive appointments. David Guinane has been appointed as
Chief Executive of permanent tsb bank - the Group's banking business while Gerry
Hassett has been appointed as Chief Executive of Irish Life (Retail), a key
operating division of the Group's life and pensions business.


David Guinane (46) has worked at permanent tsb since 1985. Currently General
Manager - Sales at the bank, David formerly led the Bank's Intermediaries and
Commercial Divisions. He is a former Managing Director of Capital Home Loans,
the bank's UK mortgage business.


Gerry Hassett (42) has worked at Irish Life since 1987. Gerry is currently
General Manager - Business Development where he is responsible for bancassurance
in permanent tsb branches, partnership arrangements with 3rd party institutions
and the Irish Life Financial Planning sales force.


Making the announcement today, Group Chief Executive Denis Casey said that David
and Gerry would play key roles in the development of the Group; "these are key
positions in both the banking and life & pensions businesses. We have set out
ambitious plans for both businesses in the years ahead and David and Gerry -
together with their respective management teams - will be charged with bringing
those plans to fruition."
