                          Senior Executive Appointment


LONDON:  12 December 2005

The Board of Firestone Diamonds plc ("Firestone"), the AIM-quoted diamond mining
and exploration company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tim
Wilkes to the position of Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for
managing all operational aspects of the company's portfolio of mining and
exploration projects.  Mr. Wilkes will be based at Firestone's offices in Cape
Town and will report to Philip Kenny, Chief Executive.

Mr. Wilkes has over twenty four years' experience in the diamond industry.
Prior to joining Firestone in May 2005 as Director - Resource Development, he
was General Manager - Mineral Resource Management for De Beers and was the
Competent Person responsible for the management of De Beers' mineral resource
portfolio worldwide.  He is currently Chairman of the Diamonds Sub-committee of
the South African Mineral Resource Committee (SAMREC), which is responsible for
the publication of the SAMREC Code.  The SAMREC Code defines the standards for
reporting of exploration results, mineral resources and mineral reserves in
South Africa.

Commenting on the appointment, Philip Kenny said "We are currently planning a
significant expansion of our mining and exploration activities in South Africa
and Botswana, following the completion of a #10 million financing in November.
Since joining Firestone earlier this year, Tim has made a significant
contribution to Firestone's continued development, particularly in relation to
our joint ventures with De Beers in Botswana and at the Groen River Valley in
South Africa.  In the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer, we
expect him to play a leading role in helping Firestone to achieve its objective
of becoming a leading mid-tier diamond mining and exploration company."
