               CAMMELL LAIRD HOLDINGS PLC

                    ISSUE OF EQUITY


Cammell   Laird   Holdings   PLC  ("Cammell   Laird"),   the
international marine services company, today announced  that
it  is  raising approximately #13.7m net of expenses via  of
placing of 13,572,906 shares with institutional investors.

The   funds  are  being  utilised  to  finance  the   recent
acquisitions in Marseilles and Oregon (which is  due  to  be
completed   within  the  next  2  weeks)  and  the   further
development of the Cammell Laird business.

The  Company  expects to finance its planned growth  in  the
medium term through debt, and is currently examining various
banking and fixed interest options.

Dealings  in the new shares are expected to commence  on  29
August 2000.
