        Bema Gold to Amend Stock Option Plan for Non Employee Directors

Vancouver, June 21, 2004 - As part of Bema Gold Corporation's (BGO-TSX, AMEX,
BAU-AIM) ongoing corporate governance initiatives, Bema's Board of Directors has
decided not issue any new stock options to non-employee Directors of the Company
until the shareholders have approved an amendment to the stock option plan
limiting the number of stock options that can be issued to non-employee
Directors.
