Peabody Group Strategy (2021-24)

Today Peabody is publishing a refreshed Group Strategy (2021-24) which sets out the future direction of the organisation. It is the result of hundreds of hours of consultation and has four clear priorities to help us deliver our mission of helping people make the most of their lives.

Great Customer Experience; Co-creating thriving communities through a local focus

Great Social Impact; Creating resilience and preventing homelessness

Great Homes and Places; Investing and maintaining for the long-term

Great Place to Work; Establishing diverse, inclusive, engaged and creative teams

Our culture and values play an essential role in who we are and how we do things. We are: Ambitious; Caring; Collaborative; Empowering and Trusted.

Great Customer Experience - Our vision is that our customers have a simple and effortless experience. We keep our promises and get it right first time. We listen to and act on our customer's feedback and are transparent about our progress.

Peabody customers should be able to expect great services, meaningful involvement in decision making, and an effortless experience in getting things done. Our modernisation programme is already bringing tangible benefits, and we are embedding digital improvements alongside new ways to empower and involve customers in both service delivery and our strategic direction. We will maintain and enhance a strong local presence in our communities, working with partners to make sure tailored support and opportunities are available to all.

Great Social Impact - Our vision is that we alleviate homelessness by having more genuinely affordable homes and provide a range of community and care and support services which help our customers become more resilient.

We will continue to prioritise genuinely affordable rented homes as part of our mixed tenure approach to development. Our local partners need support now more than ever and we will continue to work with them to invest in our communities and deliver vital services. We will gain more social value from our procurement contracts to address the issues faced by our residents, such as providing employment opportunities through our supply chain.

Great Homes and Places - Our vision is to create inclusive neighbourhoods that support wellbeing and ensure that everyone has access to green spaces and community facilities. Our new homes will be sustainable and easy to maintain and we work with residents to help them make greener choices and cut energy costs.

The safety of all our residents is our highest priority. We are doing everything possible to protect our leaseholders and shared owners from bearing the costs of any investigations, interim measures and remediation works. This includes trying to access government money and seeking recourse from developers and through insurance warranties where possible.

We invest in our homes and places for the long-term, ensuring our residents' homes and communities are safe, secure and sustainable. Our ambition is to be net zero carbon in our new and existing homes by 2050 and in our day-to-day business activities by 2030.

In Thamesmead we will continue our "whole place" approach to improve, grow and look after the town for the long-term. Our Green Infrastructure Framework sets out our approach to maintaining and enhancing the 240 ha of parks and green space; 7km of canals; five lakes; 5km of river frontage and 30,000 trees now and for future generations.

Great Place to Work - Our vision is that Peabody is an inclusive place to work where everyone is welcome and has the opportunity to thrive. Our people have the right tools and technology at their fingertips to be creative, to collaborate and effortlessly find the information they need. Our modern workplaces are comfortable and well-equipped spaces to drop in, connect and socialise.

None of our work would be possible without our employees. We are developing better, more flexible ways of working post-pandemic, enabling homeworking and supporting our employees with health and wellbeing programmes and development opportunities. At the heart of this is being a diverse and inclusive organisation where everyone has the opportunity to progress. We will also be taking the opportunity to modernise our head office on Westminster Bridge Road and maintaining satellite offices for our teams to meet and collaborate close to the residents they serve.
