(OTCQB: SMME) -- SmartMetric has embedded inside EMV chip cards a full operating fingerprint scanner that is self powered with a rechargeable in-card battery. A persons fingerprint is scanned when the user touches the cards surface sensor which in turn activates the cards EMV chip that then allows the card to work in ATM and Point Of Sale machines. The internal battery is recharged every time the card is inserted into an ATM or retail point of sale card reader according to the company President Chaya Hendrick. She said this was an important element of achieving a fingerprint activated card that works in real life at regular chip card machines while being able to be recharged for the life of the card.
