Recognized For Leading Critical Infrastructure
Deployments, Proven Multi-Application IPv6 Innovation in New
Zealand’s Disaggregated Market
Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE:SSNI) today announced that it
has been named as the Frost & Sullivan New Zealand Smart Grid
Solutions Company of the Year for the second year in a row. Silver
Spring’s IPv6 critical infrastructure networking platform was
recognized for helping energy retailers, distribution companies and
Metering Services Providers (MSPs) in New Zealand’s disaggregated
market to provide more reliable coverage in varying topographies,
give urban and rural customers up-to-date, two-way information on
their usage for better energy management and cost efficiencies, and
offer program flexibility to expand to additional smart grid, smart
city, and other critical infrastructure applications in the future.
Highlighted programs include:
- Expansion of a Distribution Automation
deployment with Unison Networks in New Zealand to further build on
the benefit of the Silver Spring Platform;
- Deployments across New Zealand with
SmartCo, a consortium of lines companies including Alpine Energy,
Electricity Invercargill, Network Tasman, The Power Company,
OnMetering, WEL Networks; and
- Partnering with Metrix to offer an
innovative metering-as-a-service model, including for a joint
deployment at Counties Power.
“We are honored that Silver Spring has been awarded New
Zealand’s Smart Grid Solutions Company of the Year for a second
consecutive year,” said Andrew Vlachiotis, Vice President of Asia
Pacific Sales, Silver Spring Networks. “As there is an increase in
demand for grid reliability in the region, more customers are
turning to Silver Spring for our vision and expertise in building a
smarter world of intelligent, connected Internet of Things devices.
Innovations such as the Silver Spring Gen5 critical infrastructure
platform including the ‘Milli 5’ will also enable the water
industry to realise significant benefits as the electric industry
in region has done.”
The Silver Spring “Milli 5,” a part of Silver Spring’s fifth
generation critical infrastructure platform, is a postage-stamp
sized networking card that can embed in small, battery-powered IOT
devices to create self-meshing, large-scale sensor networks for
smart cities, water and gas metering, EV charging, environmental
and acoustic sensors, transportation and logistics monitoring,
industrial and manufacturing equipment, and agricultural sensors,
among many others.
Including New Zealand, Silver Spring’s critical infrastructure
networking platform has connected over 21.5 million devices for the
world’s leading network operators to help drive cost, operational,
and energy efficiency benefits through leading critical
infrastructure IoT technology.
