Bell Canada – a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE
Inc. (BCE) – unveiled Fibe TV Wireless Receiver in an
attempt to boost the television (TV) viewing experience. Through
this device, customers will be able to watch up to 5 extra TVs
anywhere within the house minus the trouble of additional
wiring.
The Wireless Receiver Transmitter works by connecting to a
customer's Home Networking modem and the main Whole Home PVR.
Subsequently, the full Fibe TV is made available in as many as 5
other TVs by interlinking one or more compact Wireless Receivers.
Customers, both new and existing, can get the Fibe TV Wireless
Receivers for a $7 rent per month or at a $199 price. They will
also receive a Fibe Remote.
Termed as the next generation of television – Fibe TV – offers
novel features to customers, giving it competitive edge over the
traditional cable TV operators. Designed with best on-screen guide,
picture-in-picture and extensive search options, the Fibe TV has
applications such as Facebook, Twitter and TSN Xtra. These devices
are gaining popularity owing to its HD On Demand content and the
largest HD recording capacity that extends up to 100 hours.
During the first quarter of 2013, Fibe TV added 47,463 new
customers, bringing the total number of subscribers to 295,761, up
147% from the comparable quarter last year. Available in Montreal,
Quebec City and Toronto, BCE introduced Fibe TV in numerous
locations including Aurora, Barrie, Hamilton, Markham, Milton,
Newmarket, Ottawa, Richmond Hill, Stoney Creek and Vaughan in
Ontario in 2013. Currently covering 3 million families, Fibe TV
will reach a million more households by the year end.
With this new product, BCE aims to tap the growth opportunities
within the media business sector. With so many happenings across
the globe, television serves as a fast and efficient medium of news
reporting as well as entertainment. We appreciate the company’s
endeavor to bring what the world has to offer to the Canadian homes
via the wireless HD TV option.
