(NYSE:RAI) today announced that it has further extended the expiration of its previously announced offer to issue its new senior secured notes in exchange for up to $161,183,000 aggregate principal amount of notes previously issued by its direct, wholly owned subsidiary, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Holdings, Inc. (the "RJR Notes"). The exchange offer, previously scheduled to expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on Jan. 4, 2007, will now expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on Feb. 15, 2007, unless further extended or earlier terminated. The exchange offer was originally scheduled to expire at 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2006. As of the date hereof, $44,107,500 aggregate principal amount of the RJR Notes (approximately 27 percent of the total outstanding) had been validly tendered and not withdrawn in the exchange offer.
