Protective Life Corporation (NYSE: PL) ("Protective") today announced that Allen W. Ritchie has resigned his position as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Life Insurance Operations to pursue other opportunities effective immediately. Mr. Ritchie will remain with the Company for a brief transition period. John D. Johns, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Protective will assume direct responsibility of the Life Insurance Operations. Mr. Johns was previously responsible for the Life Insurance Operations prior to Mr. Ritchie's recent appointment. "Over the last five years, Allen Ritchie has been a strong contributor to our company and a good friend. We will miss working with him and wish him and his family well in the future," said Mr. Johns. The Company recently announced that the Chief Financial Officer position will be filled by Gary Corsi effective September 25. Protective Life Corporation provides financial services through the production, distribution and administration of insurance and investment products throughout the United States. It has annual revenues of approximately $2.0 billion and as of June 30, 2006 had assets of approximately $29.1 billion.
