Dow Jones News
Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (GAP) has brought on
another OfficeMax Inc. (OMX) executive to fill a key role,
following Chief Executive Sam Martin and another official from the
office-supply company to the supermarket operator.
The struggling company tapped Carter Knox to fill its role of
senior vice president of human resources and communications. Knox
comes from OfficeMax, where he was the senior five president of
human resources. He has more than 30 years in various management
positions within retail-sales management and merchandising, A&P
said.
Martin was the operating chief at OfficeMax before being hired
last month to become A&P's CEO. The supermarket operator
announced Wednesday that former OfficeMax operations executive Paul
Hertz would be A&P's executive vice president of
operations.
A&P shares declined 3.1% to $2.83 in recent trading amid a
broader market downturn. The stock has fallen 18% this month and
76% this year.
