NAPERVILLE, Ill., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Imagine that you're a high school band student abruptly pulled out of your summer vacation, told that the fate of your school's music department rests in your hands and that you must pass a virtually impossible "state administered" test or the music department would be shut down! That's the premise of the hilarious new reality TV show, SCHOOLED(TM), featuring Multi-platinum recording artists, The All-American Rejects and set to air on The CW-TV on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 8:00 p.m.(EST)/ 7:00 p.m. (CST) To view the Multimedia News Release, go to: http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/officemax/28707/ In SCHOOLED, students at New Jersey's New Milford High School are tricked into believing their school is "Musically Deficient." The anxious students must attend a "music rehabilitation" program in order for the school to keep its state funding. Hidden TV cameras recorded the unwary students as they were led through absurd oral exams climaxing with their mandatory performance of Richard Strauss's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra." The prank's grand finale? A live, surprise performance for the students by the rock band The All-American Rejects. The 60-minute show was developed by OfficeMax(R), a leading provider of office products and services. As part of their reward for participating in SCHOOLED, OfficeMax awarded each of the 55 students with backpacks filled with MP3 players, digital cameras and school supplies. Teachers received brand new laptop computers and New Milford High School was rewarded with a $60,000 OfficeMax gift card. "New Milford High School was eager to participate with OfficeMax to pull off this wicked prank on our students," said Eric Sheninger, principal of New Milford High School. "After our school was hit by April's nor'easter, we were concerned that we were going to have to cut most of our extracurricular activities to help pay for the flood damage. Our school needed to do something special to boost our students' spirits and send them off into the summer with some fantastic memories." After the August 2007 airing of SCHOOLED, OfficeMax retail stores will provide an exclusive, limited edition DVD of SCHOOLED as a free gift with a $50 purchase of school supplies. OfficeMax has also partnered with Google(TM) to post behind-the-scenes video and deleted footage from the program at schooled07.googlepages.com. "We are very excited to produce SCHOOLED with New Milford High School," says Ryan Vero, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for OfficeMax. "Reaching our back-to-school shoppers with special television programming and online content they will enjoy and interact with gives OfficeMax greater presence and relevance." OfficeMax's agency The Escape Pod directed and produced the show.
