Milestone Underscores LSI expertise in high-speed connectivity MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation (NYSE:LSI) today announced that it has shipped more than 150 million 1394 ports. This achievement underscores longstanding success of LSI in providing semiconductor chips for IEEE1394 applications. IEEE1394 chips enable faster data connections between consumer electronics devices, computers, and external hard-drives at speeds up to 800 Megabits per second. "LSI has a long and successful history in high-speed serial connectivity and plans to continue boosting the number of ports we ship to customers," said Dan Devine, senior product marketing manager with LSI. "Over the past year our shipments have increased more than 31 percent. Included among the 150 million ports LSI has shipped are 1394A and 1394B chips. These chips connect various devices at 400 Megabits per second and 800 Megabits per second, respectively.
