WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Under new orders valued at $23.5 million, ITT Industries, Inc. (NYSE:ITT) will deliver 2,300 Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems (SINCGARS), ancillaries and spares to the U.S. Army Communications Electronic Lifecycle Management Command in Ft. Monmouth, N.J. The new Advanced Systems Improvement Program (ASIP) radios will allow hundreds of frontline warfighters to join the extensive SINCGARS tactical radio network that is now fielded in the Middle East. SINCGARS, the Army's "Soldier radio," is a backbone voice and data communication system that allows warfighters to plan and conduct operations in a totally secure environment. To date, ITT has delivered 275,000 radios to U.S. and allied forces worldwide. Approximately 130,000 radios are in the delivery pipeline. ITT has produced five generations of SINCGARS for U.S. and allied forces. Each new generation includes a carefully engineered set of enhancements that combines data and voice traffic into a virtual Tactical Internet. The next generation, SINCGARS ASIP-E, will use the new Soldier Radio Waveform to deliver simultaneous voice and data operations.
