Harris Corporation Qualifies As Broadband Wireless Access Provider For China Network Communications (CNC) Group Corporation Harris Qualifies to Supply Microwave Radio Systems to CNC's 19 Provincial Branches SINGAPORE, CommunicAsia 2004, June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global provider of wireless equipment and services, today announced that it has qualified to supply broadband wireless access communications to China Network Communications Group Corporation (CNC), a leading broadband wireless access (BWA) provider in China. Qualification is the first step in facilitating the purchase of Harris ClearBurst(TM) MB broadband wireless access equipment by CNC branches across China. The ClearBurst MB point-to-multipoint digital microwave radio system operates at the 3.5 and 10.5 GHz frequency bands and utilizes dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) and media access control (MAC) forwarding techniques to deliver high-quality voice and prioritized, high-speed data. ClearBurst MB will enable CNC to better serve its customers in southern China, where it does not own the last mile local access network. "We recognize and appreciate CNC's role as a major service provider," said Jian Qiu, managing director of Harris in Shenzhen, China. "We look forward to assisting CNC with enhancing their local access network and more effectively serving their customers." ClearBurst MB provides carriers and network operators with a flexible and cost-effective way to offer a complete range of business services to their customers. The ClearBurst MB system is designed to meet the needs of the small office and home offices (SOHO) and medium enterprises. It is based on IP transport, but is designed to support real-time services such as voice, making it a perfect complement to existing networks where voice is predominant and high-speed Internet access is growing rapidly. ClearBurst MB features a software-configurable packet optimization scheme that allows operators to more effectively manage time-sensitive traffic without undue throughput penalties. Ethernet packets are handled independently, each in accordance with pre-established service level agreements (SLAs), which guarantees high-quality service even in the presence of bursty traffic.
