Harris Corporation to Provide Integrated Command and Control Capabilities to Latvian Ministry of Defence PARIS (Eurosatory booth C37), June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading supplier of secure, tactical radios for worldwide defense forces, today announced that the Latvian Ministry of Defence has purchased the company's C2PC (Command and Control Personal Computer)-CNR (Combat Net Radio) software to use with its existing Harris Falcon(R) II radios. The integrated tactical command and control system will help the Latvian armed forces coordinate battlefield positions and distribute information readily among its troops and NATO allies. Harris, working with Northrop Grumman in the United Kingdom, has created a customized version of the globally deployed Northrop Grumman C2PC Tactical C2 System that provides situational awareness via Harris Falcon II radios. Falcon II radios are built upon a common digital platform with an integrated network controller, allowing the radios to provide communications for network-based applications such as situational awareness, mapping, messaging and information management. The resultant network will supply Latvian commanders with accurate position information on the battlefield. "These sales mark the start of a series of equipment deliveries that reinforce the value of track management capabilities at the deployed tactical level," said Todd Davis, product manager at Harris RF Communications Division. "As defense forces look to upgrade their C2 capabilities, we expect several additional Falcon II customers to acquire C2PC-CNR in the near future." Latvia has purchased $20 million worth of communications equipment from Harris since 1998. Latvia's extended procurement of this technologically advanced equipment signifies its commitment to NATO and helped Latvian forces to integrate with its allies prior to its NATO induction earlier this year.
