Lockheed Martin Awards Harris Corporation Silver Level Preferred
Supplier Certification WASHINGTON, May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Harris Corporation today announced that it has earned Silver Level
Preferred Supplier Program (PSP) certification from the Missiles
and Fire Control business unit of Lockheed Martin , joining just 35
other companies that have achieved this level of supplier status.
The Silver Level PSP designation reflects excellence in quality,
consistent and on-time delivery, responsiveness, and process
control, among other criteria. The announcement was made during the
Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA)
TechNet International 2004 conference (Harris Booth #222), held May
11-13 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. "This is a very
important achievement that reflects the success of our company-wide
commitment to total customer satisfaction," said Bob Henry,
corporate senior VP of Harris and president, Harris Government
Communications Systems Division (GCSD). "The Silver Level PSP
designation will provide increased visibility and credibility for
Harris within Lockheed Martin." Harris provides Lockheed Martin
Missiles and Fire Control with electronics for the Improved Fire
Control System (IFCS) used in the U.S. Army's Multiple Launch
Rocket System (MLRS). "We have stringent measuring systems that we
use to evaluate supplier performance across a number of criteria,
and the Silver Level PSP status reflects the fact that Harris
consistently delivers quality products on time," said Kevin Jones,
vice president -- Quality for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire
Control. "Our business has thousands of suppliers, and we offer
four levels of supplier certification: Bronze, Silver, Gold and
Platinum. We're pleased that Harris has achieved the Silver Level
status." Currently, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control has
13 Gold Level suppliers in its program. Harris expects to achieve
