Harris Corporation Names New Leaders for its RF Communications U.S. Department of Defense and International Businesses

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications
and information technology company, has named two senior company
representatives to lead its RF Communications U.S. Department of
Defense (DoD) and International tactical communications
businesses.
George Helm, vice president of the long-term evolution (LTE)
business for the Public Safety and Professional Communications
business, has been named president of Harris RF Communications’ DoD
business. He succeeds Brendan O’Connell, who has been named
president of Harris RF Communications’ International business.

experience and broad understanding of the tactical communications
market will be invaluable as we guide our customers to the next
generation of wideband tactical communications networks.”
Prior to his role with the Public Safety and Professional
Communications business, Helm served as vice president and general
manager of the Harris RF Communications Government Products
business and held senior leadership roles in product management and
product engineering organizations. During his tenure, Harris
developed the industry-leading Falcon family of multiband, wideband
and high-frequency tactical radios. Helm also successfully led
Harris’ 2009 acquisition of the Tyco Electronics Wireless Systems
business, which is now part of Harris Public Safety and
Professional Communications.
O’Connell has diverse experiences in both the DoD and
international tactical communications businesses. He served five
years as vice president of U.S. DoD sales for Harris RF
Communications. Prior to that, he held management positions of
increasing responsibility, including director of European and
Central Asia sales and director of Asia Pacific sales, Middle East
sales and Government Programs for the business. He also completed
expatriate assignments in Malaysia, the Philippines and the United
Kingdom.
