Business Wire
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications
and information technology company, announced that its Government
Communications Systems business has been appraised at Capability
Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) Maturity Level 3. First
achieved in 2005, this new rating is valid through July 2014. It
denotes superior process maturity within the business and has been
a competitive differentiator on many government and commercial
programs.
The CMMI® Level 3 rating was determined by a team of trained
assessors using the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Standard
CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) and the
CMMI® for Development, version 1.3 (CMMI®-DEV v1.3). The appraisal
team was led by an independent and SEI-Certified SCAMPISM High
Maturity Lead Appraiser, and measured process and product
excellence of an integrated set of processes applied across GCS's
functional organizations.
"The CMMI® Level 3 rating is consistent with the culture of
continuous improvement and commitment to excellence that we embrace
here at Harris," said Sheldon Fox, group president, Harris
Government Communications Systems. "This achievement clearly
demonstrates to our customers that we are fully committed to a
high-level of process improvements that assure the delivery of
superior product, system and service solutions."
