Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications
and information technology company, has received a $5.3 million order from the Federative Republic
of Brazil for Falcon III® RF-7800V
VHF tactical radios. The RF-7800V is the world's fastest VHF
combat net radio system and will provide the Brazilian armed forces
with next-generation voice and high-speed data communications for a
range of applications and environments, such as in the jungle.
Brazil is acquiring both the
RF-7800V-HH handheld combat net radio and RF-7800V-V501 50-watt
vehicular amplifier adapter system for use in armored personnel
carriers, tanks, transport and other vehicles, and by dismounted
warfighters operating on foot. The RF-7800V family delivers
capabilities in range, data speeds and throughput that are
unmatched by any combat net radio on the market, offering the
performance profile of a manpack radio in a lightweight handheld
form factor.
"The RF-7800V provides Brazil
with superior all-around performance in a combat net radio system,
allowing military personnel to communicate via voice and data over
longer distances," said Julio
Villafane, regional managing director, Caribbean and Latin
America, Harris RF Communications. "Built to connect
easily to battle management systems, the 7800V family delivers
seamless interoperability with existing networks. Our
advanced application of VHF radio technology will dramatically
enhance command and control and overall situational awareness."
The RF-7800V family covers the 30 MHz to 108 MHz frequency range
and supports data rates up to 192 Kbps, making it the fastest
combat net radio available today. The RF-7800V also provides
easy integration with Battle Management Systems for time-critical
BMS reports, while delivering simultaneous networked voice and data
communications to multiple users. Additionally, the RF-7800V also
offers Free-Channel Search and dual push-to-talk capabilities for
enhanced agility in high-noise or jammed environments.
