MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Janice M. Lindsay, vice president of Supply
Chain Management and Operations of Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS),
is featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal's recent
annual list of WomenWorthWatching®. She is one of 124
business representatives whose names were submitted for the
recognition by their employers
Each representative shares her personal leadership journey
successes in a full-page mentoring essay in the
September/October 2010 issue of the
publication. The essays are designed to encourage aspiring
business leaders, and to help advance women into leadership
ranks.
Lindsay's essay discusses her philosophy of pursuing excellence,
inspiring others to join her in that quest, and the empowering
awareness that she controls her own destiny. "I learned that
life is a series of choices and that I get to make them," she said.
"Don't allow someone else to control your life's destiny.
I have found that if I am clear on what I want, it is easier
for those around me to support me in pursuing it. Visualize
your future, crystallize your thoughts and communicate
effectively."
"It is great to see that every year more and more companies
answer the call to this issue's purpose and mission," said
James Rector, publisher and managing
editor of Profiles in Diversity Journal. "Aside from
their leadership qualities and mentoring abilities, the fact that
women encompass half the job market and make approximately 80
percent of all consumer purchasing decisions should be enough
encouragement for companies to understand why having women in
executive ranks is so important."
"Janice represents the exceptional leadership qualities that are
key to making Harris a success, and we salute her achievements as
well as those of the many other successful women professionals at
Harris," said Jeff Shuman, senior
vice president of Human Resources and Corporate Relations for
Harris.
In Lindsay's current role, she is responsible for companywide
leadership in the areas of sourcing, procurement, logistics,
manufacturing and operations strategy and execution.
"Aligning the entire value chain is key to creating
innovation, excellence and differentiation for competitive
advantage," she said.
Prior to assuming her current position, Lindsay was vice
president of Strategic Sourcing. Before that, she was
director of Supply Chain Operations, where she led the creation of
an enterprise-wide, supply chain operating system that helped
Harris earn the AMR Research 2009 Supply Chain Excellence Award for
Small to Midsize Businesses.
Prior to joining Harris in 2004, Lindsay held management
positions at Pitney Bowes, Inc., as well as Dictaphone Corporation,
its subsidiary. She has a bachelor's degree in accounting
from the University of West Florida in
Pensacola, Florida.
