Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, has been awarded a $35 million contract to deliver network
operations support, that will enable the Defense Commissary Agency
(DeCA) to distribute affordable commissary goods to U.S. military
personnel worldwide. The contract, which includes a
five-month base with four one-year options, is a follow-on to the
company's successful completion of a six-year contract with the
agency.
Nearly 12 million customers in military communities around the
world rely on local commissaries for groceries and other supplies.
Harris network infrastructure support, management and
maintenance provide the backbone of DeCA's commissary system.
The company optimizes store and support operations through its
security monitoring, on-site assistance and technology support.
Harris also supports the retail point-of-sale system and
services, debit and credit card transaction authorizations, e-mail,
payroll, personnel management — as well as product ordering,
shipping, receiving, invoicing and billing – by providing reliable,
and secure telecommunications.
