Harris Corporation Awarded $9.8 Million Follow-On Contract By U.S. Navy for Aircraft Fibre Channel Network Switches

Switches Provide Core Networking Infrastructure for Fighter
Aircraft MELBOURNE, Fla., June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, was awarded an $9.8 million
follow-on contract to provide 209 Fibre Channel Network Switches
for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and for other military
aircraft. The new award brings the total value of the switch
development and production contracts for Harris to more than $55
million since 2000. The Fibre Channel Network Switch is a component
of the onboard Advanced Mission Computer and Display subsystem.
Under the new award, Harris will supply 188 switches for U.S. Navy
Lot 33 F/A-18E/F, EA-18G and E-2D aircraft; for F/A-18F and EA-18G
supplemental aircraft; and also for retrofitting of Lots 26-28
F/A-18E/F aircraft. The contract also will provide 21 switches for
the Australian F/A-18F aircraft under the Foreign Military Sales
program. The switches will be produced at the company's
headquarters in Melbourne, Florida, with an expected completion
date of December 2010. The Harris(R) Fibre Channel Network Switch
creates the core networking infrastructure for the next-generation
avionics networks currently in production. It provides all of the
fibre channel protocols required for node-to-node communications
and true line-speed synchronous switching, and a scalable
architecture that supports current and future mission-critical
flight environments. "Military aircraft avionics are a core
