MELBOURNE, Fla., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, has donated $20,000 to the Krannert
School of Management at Purdue University to support the
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities. The
program provides advanced training in entrepreneurship and small
business management to military personnel who are disabled as a
result of their service during operations Enduring Freedom and
Iraqi Freedom. The goal of the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for
Veterans (EBV) is to open the door to opportunity and small
business ownership by developing skills associated with creating
and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture. Purdue is one of five
universities that will offer the EBV in the summer of 2009. Other
participants are the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse
University, UCLA Anderson School of Management, Florida State
University's College of Business, and Mays Business School at Texas
A&M. The EBV program is offered free to qualified veterans
accepted into the program, with more than 100 seats available
across the EBV Consortium Schools. "America's disabled veterans
have much to offer in the development and expansion of small
businesses, which are at the core of our country's economic engine.
The skills and discipline they learned in the military translate
well in the business world," said Howard L. Lance, chairman,
president and chief executive officer of Harris. "This donation is
a small way for Harris to support those who have fought on our
behalf in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to help assist them in their
transition to private enterprise. This is a very worthwhile project
provided by an outstanding university that benefits those who have
made an incredible sacrifice to protect our freedom." "The Krannert
School is grateful for the support that Harris Corporation is
providing this important venture," said Richard Cosier, Krannert
dean and Leeds Professor of Management. "Helping veterans with
disabilities understand how to start their own businesses and
become entrepreneurs is a noble calling for any business school. We
look forward to our first class of students, and we thank Harris
for helping to make this program a success." The bootcamp consists
of a series of training modules designed to assist veterans in
growing businesses successfully and profitably. Through interactive
instruction, teams of experienced faculty and successful
entrepreneurs will introduce entrepreneurship ideas and concepts
and show veterans how to apply them to current or potential
business. About Harris Corporation Harris is an international
