PR Newswire (US)
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- (GEOINT, Booth
#256) - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international
communications and information technology company, today introduced
the Geospatial Search Tracking and Retrieval (GeoSTAR(TM)) tool, a
commercial off-the-shelf, web-based graphical user interface that
provides a simpler approach to researching, accessing and
controlling imagery and geospatial products. GeoSTAR is the
next-generation of Harris interfaces that have been used by
thousands of government analysts over the past ten years. The new
interface operates in the context of a Geospatial Information
System (GIS), where it provides instructions to the services and
data access layers - such as Harris' new GeoDART(TM) search and
retrieval software - within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
GeoSTAR is fully compatible with major commercial web browsers.
Researchers may use either the standard GeoSTAR interface, for
maximum flexibility, or an express GeoSTAR interface to simplify
repetitive tasks and minimize interactions. GeoSTAR also enables
users to establish and maintain a personal profile, complete with
preferences. Queries can be made of multiple libraries and data
catalogs visible to the GIS through SOA Web Service Description
Language (WSDL) interfaces. Queries can be either ad hoc or saved,
based on frequency, dates or events. "GeoSTAR advances the Harris
technology that has been used over the past decade by thousands of
researchers and analysts in government settings. It provides both
government and commercial users with a more friendly user interface
that is faster and much more convenient," said Sheldon Fox,
president of National Intelligence Programs for Harris Government
Communications Systems. "GeoSTAR supports a variety of imagery
formats, enabling our customers to tailor the display format of the
imagery retrieved to meet their specific needs." The Harris
National Intelligence Programs business is a major developer,
supplier and integrator of communications and information
processing products, systems, and networks for a diverse base of
Intelligence Community programs. Harris supports the ongoing
transformation of the Intelligence Community into a more
collaborative enterprise. About Harris Corporation Harris is an
