MELBOURNE, Fla., March 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced that Lewis A. "Lew" Schwartz, 43, has been appointed vice president and principal accounting officer by the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Schwartz, who was elected as principal accounting officer in October 2005, reports to Gary L. McArthur, vice president and chief financial officer. "Lew is extremely well respected at all levels of the organization for his attention to detail and rigorous compliance with mounting SEC requirements," said Mr. McArthur. "He has a wealth of experience in internal and external financial reporting, financial information systems, accounting, budgeting and planning. His outstanding leadership and energy as the company's vice president and principal accounting officer will continue to serve Harris and its shareholders very well." Mr. Schwartz joined Harris in 1992 and has held numerous positions in the company's finance organization. Prior to his election as principal accounting officer, he was assistant controller and director of Corporate Accounting. Prior to this, he was director of Corporate Financial Planning. Before joining Harris, Mr. Schwartz was with Ernst & Young LLP from 1986 to 1992. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Accounting from Stetson University.
