PR Newswire (US)
LAS VEGAS, NAB 2006, April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global provider of turnkey
network management systems, wireless equipment and services, today
announced the availability of NetBoss EM(TM) (Element Manager) to
support the Harris Video Networking and Microwave Solution, a
point-to-point transport solution for the broadcast industry that
combines the company's NetVX(TM) video networking and TRuepoint(TM)
microwave digital radios. The announcement was made at the National
Association of Broadcasters 2006 conference in Las Vegas, Harris
booth #C807, where NetBoss EM(TM) is being demonstrated as part of
the Harris Video Networking and Microwave Solution. "As the
broadcast industry increasingly moves towards digitizing content
and transporting it over IP networks in support of new service
models, the need to understand and maintain the health of the
network to ensure quality of service becomes critical," said Doug
Collins, strategic marketing manager for Harris Broadcast
Communications Division's Networking Solutions Unit. "Harris
NetBoss EM(TM) serves as an excellent scalable solution, enabling
broadcasters not only to start with the monitoring and configuring
of STL links to comply with FCC Part 74 and Part 101 regulations
through one graphical user interface, but also to grow into a
multi-site, global monitoring capability as their network expands."
NetBoss EM(TM) is a scalable, cross-platform element management
system that supports distributed network architectures and provides
complete, real- time management capabilities for the Harris Video
Networking and Microwave Solution. It enables broadcast customers
to easily and cost-effectively designate transmission protocols and
perform configuration management and fault management to the
component level. Comprehensive, industry standard models of Harris
NetVX(TM) and the TRuepoint radios -- including hundreds of alarm
points -- are used to maintain an accurate representation of the
network elements. "This new application of NetBoss EM(TM) for video
and transport requirements is yet another demonstration of the
inherent flexibility that the NetBoss(R) platform offers, and of
our commitment to providing Harris customers turnkey solutions,"
said John Koenig, vice president of the Harris NetBoss business
unit. "NetBoss EM(TM) enables the broadcaster to configure,
allocate bandwidth, and monitor the performance of the Harris Video
Networking and Microwave Solution -- all through a single user
interface." The Harris Video Networking and Microwave Solution
offers video network operators around the world, such as
broadcasters, public safety agencies and other content
distributors, unprecedented flexibility and reach to seamlessly
transport conventional and digital video, audio and data traffic
across common carrier and Studio Transmitter Link (STL)
environments. The solution combines the power of Harris NetVX(TM)
and TRuepoint(TM). NetVX(TM) is an integrated, high-speed network
connectivity solution that can establish links with all
packet-based (ATM and IP) services for efficient movement of media
between physically disparate locations. The TRuepoint microwave
radio leads the industry in performance and manageability, and
meets FCC Part 101 requirements for common carrier applications and
FCC Part 74 requirements for video STL and TSL applications. About
