MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global provider of turnkey
network management systems, today announced that Claro, one of the
largest mobile telecommunications providers in Brazil, has again
selected Harris' NetBoss(R) network management platform to manage
its expanding wireless network. With NetBoss(R), Claro has a
single, centralized Network Operations Center (NOC) that manages
all of its wireless networks throughout Brazil. This contract marks
the third expansion project awarded to Harris by Claro in the last
three years. Claro is a subsidiary of America Movil and is one of
the largest mobile operators in Brazil, with more than 16.2 million
customers. Claro operates in several regions throughout Brazil: Rio
de Janeiro/Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Centro Oeste, Rio Grande
do Sul, interior of Sao Paulo, metropolitan Sao Paulo and the
northeast. "Claro's ongoing relationship with Harris is an example
of our continuing, successful efforts to supply a highly effective
service assurance solution in Brazil and throughout South America,"
said John Koenig, vice president of Harris' NetBoss business unit,
an operation of Harris Microwave Communications Division. "By
utilizing the advanced capabilities of NetBoss(R), Claro can
quickly detect, isolate and correct network conditions affecting
services, while keeping operational costs low." "Claro's continued
use of the NetBoss network management platform is confirmation that
Harris has delivered a product that has not only been able to meet
Claro's existing needs, but has continued to address these needs as
network expansions take place," added Koenig. Claro has previously
selected Harris for its network expansion projects. In 2003, Claro
awarded Harris an expansion project that extended Claro's existing
network management architecture and fault management functionality
for the new network. In 2004, Claro awarded Harris a second
expansion project that resulted in NetBoss(R) managing more than
10,000 network devices and up to five million events per day. About
