LONDON, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- (DSEi, booth #321) --
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) and Rockwell Collins (NYSE:COL), both
leading suppliers of secure, tactical radios for defense forces
worldwide, today announced that they have completed the development
of interoperable ground and airborne communications products for
the international marketplace. The products are based on Harris'
Falcon(R) II portfolio of tactical radios and Rockwell Collins'
TALON family of airborne radios. Harris has incorporated the
advanced TALON Electronic Counter- Countermeasures (ECCM) waveform
into the Harris RF-5800M and RF-5800U tactical radios, which are
part of the Harris Falcon(R) II family. Rockwell Collins has
incorporated the Harris Quicklook 1A waveform and Harris Citadel(R)
embedded encryption into its TALON airborne multiband radios. "The
resulting products comprise a comprehensive, multiband, very-high-
frequency/ultra-high frequency (VHF/UHF) ground-to-air solution,"
said Steve Marschilok, vice president and general manager of
international products and systems business, Harris RF
Communications Division. "We are extremely pleased by the results
of this joint effort and that we can meet the needs of customers
who require a complete tactical radio system with secure ground-to-
ground and ground-to-air capabilities." Harris delivered the TALON
ECCM capability to international programs in 2005 and offers TALON
as an option for the RF-5800M and RF-5800U manpack radio models.
The Falcon II Multiband Tactical Radio System family covers the
frequency range from 30 to 512 MHz and offers a full suite of ECCM
capabilities, including Quicklook 1A, Havequick I/II and now, the
TALON waveform. The Falcon II's software-defined radio (SDR)
architecture is a key element in major military communications
standardization programs, including the Bowman Programme in the
U.K. and the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) program in the U.S.
The Rockwell Collins TALON system provides normal and secure
two-way voice and data communications over the 30 to 400 MHz
frequency ranges. The system employs the latest developments in the
successful Collins ARC-210 radio line, providing interface
capability with other communication systems. It can apply an ECCM
waveform that can be easily changed to create country-unique
waveforms. Rockwell Collins is a worldwide leader in the design,
production, and support of communication and aviation electronics
