analysis application to improve business processes and maximize
revenue from tape and digital libraries AMSTERDAM, Netherlands,
Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS)
today announced the availability of its H-Class(TM) Media Business
System (MBS), Release 1.0. H-Class MBS enables broadcasters,
content providers and media developers to easily track all of their
media content assets, both physical and digital. No matter what the
media type -- traditional 30-second spots, or new media such as
product placements or interactive campaigns - H-Class MBS
efficiently tracks and bills the media through its end-to-end
system for traffic, billing, scheduling and air-time sales. The
H-Class MBS Release 1.0 provides a library management system
integrated with digital asset management and media ingest
capabilities. This is the industry's first intelligent, highly
integrated application to use content-derived metadata to connect
the physical world of tape libraries with digitized media, to more
profitably manage digital rights, and to define and build content
relationships for generating additional revenue. Scalable,
standards-based and purpose-built for the enterprise, the
H-Class(TM) Content Delivery Platform integrates disparate
processes for creating, delivering and managing media and
entertainment content. As a modular system, the H-Class Platform
intelligently captures, interprets and acts upon content-associated
metadata through a series of integrated applications such as the
H-Class MBS, which focuses on contacts, search, security, system
configuration and material/digital content library management.
"H-Class MBS adds a more content-centric focus to business
processes, resulting in additional revenue opportunities for Harris
customers," said Gerry Kaufhold, principal analyst covering
converging markets and technologies for In-Stat, a market research
firm covering the communications industry. "It capitalizes on the
industry's biggest growth opportunity -- increased revenue per
subscriber. By using content-associated metadata to support the
digital media supply chain, customers can more efficiently and
profitably manage traffic, billing, contacts and integrated tape
and digital content libraries to increase sales through existing
relationships." H-Class MBS, Release 1.0 is a pivotal application
for the H-Class Content Delivery Platform and offers breakthrough
functionality that includes: - Content management features to
define metadata related to media content and to manage content
relationships - Library management for physical and digital media,
including content form control such as check-in/out and reserve
booking - The ability to build and maintain business hierarchies
that go beyond traditional CRM definitions - Search engine features
to find all objects across the entire system - Security features to
define roles, assign users to roles and to grant access to system
resources, data and actions - System configuration features to
define user lists, system lists and to customize settings "H-Class
MBS is the first application that can contextually apply metadata
from one or more pieces of content and relate it to business
processes, ranging from traffic and scheduling to library
management," said Taras Bugir, chief strategy officer of Harris
Broadcast Communications Division's Software Systems business unit.
"Its focus is to help our customers deliver the 'four rights' - the
right content to the right person at the right time on the right
device, with the ultimate goal of increasing bottom-line revenues.
We envision it serving as the base for the H-Class Platform,
enabling broadcasters to become H-Class Platform ready." Harris
will showcase the H-Class Platform and feature the H-Class Media
Business Systems sharing data with multiple applications in the
media business value chain at IBC 2005 (Harris Broadcast
Communications Division: Hall 8, Stand 8.291, Amsterdam RAI).
During the exhibition, demonstrations will show how
revenue-generating services such as high-definition (HD) television
and video-on-demand can be managed and delivered to maximum effect
by enabling user behavioral characteristics to dictate the
appropriate content delivery paths, from ingest to consumption.
