Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: FRX) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a new share repurchase program for up to 50 million shares of its common stock. The authorization will become effective immediately and has no set expiration date. The Company expects to make repurchases from time to time either in the open market or through private transactions, including accelerated share repurchase programs. The program may be suspended or discontinued at any time.

While executing the stock repurchase program, the Company is committed to retaining the financial strength and flexibility it needs to continue to invest in new business development opportunities.
