Eni SpA (ENI.MI) said Thursday that it has made a gas discovery in the East Obayed concession, located in Egypt's Western Desert.

The discovery well has been opened7 to production, delivering 25 million standard cubic feet per day, the company said.

Eni has started preliminary studies with a view to develop the gas reserves, it added.
