BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) announced today that the Carabinieri,
Italys renowned federal police organization, has standardised on
BMCs Business Service Management (BSM) platform. The Carabinieri
will use BSM to unify its vast and complex information systems by
2009, thus freeing up critical internal resources. BMC was selected
by the Carabinieri as part of a public bidding process based on its
ability to meet the in-depth technical demands of the Italian
federal police, as well as BMCs excellent reputation and proven
track record in deploying BSM. BMCs alignment to ITIL best
practice was also a key consideration. We believe that the
Carabinieri must automate the management of our internal IT
management activities so that we can devote our resources in
service to the community, explained Captain Antonio Tambato. We
chose to unify our systems using BMCs Business Service Management
to take the hassle out of IT. By simplifying internal processes, we
will free up time and resources considerably, allowing us to
concentrate on what is important. The proposed scale and speed of
the project is impressive. The Carabinieri intends to fully
implement BMCs Business Service Management within one year, with
the objective of unifying the IT systems of the General Command of
the Force, National Administrative Centre in Chieti, the
Interregional Commands in Milan, Rome, Naples, Messina and Padua.
In the end, the BSM implementation will include all regional,
provincial, company and station commands across more than 5000
municipalities. This project will allow the Carabinieri to manage
its IT infrastructure with an increasing sophisticated level of
process management, varying according to levels of criticality and
the impact on application services pertinent to both external and
internal users. About BMC Software BMC Software is a leading global
