Belo Television Stations Win Four National Murrow Awards, Leading All Station Groups Nationwide

Top Honors Given to KING-TV in Seattle/Tacoma, WCNC-TV in
Charlotte, KVUE-TV in Austin and KTVB in Boise DALLAS, June 19

television stations have won four national Edward R. Murrow Awards
for 2007, more than all other station groups nationwide in the
total number of awards received. The awards recognized KING-TV in
Seattle/Tacoma for its Web site KING5.com, WCNC-TV in Charlotte for
Sports Reporting, KVUE-TV in Austin for Overall Excellence and KTVB
in Boise for Sports Reporting. The Radio-Television News Directors
Association (RTNDA) presents the Murrow Awards annually to honor
outstanding achievements in electronic journalism and recognize
news organizations that set the standard in the broadcast news
profession. "We are honored that four Belo stations were recognized
by the RTNDA this year. These awards are a reflection of the
dedication and commitment our journalists have to delivering
outstanding content to the local communities we serve," said Dunia

awards bring the total number of national Murrow Awards Belo
stations have been awarded to 19 since 2000 and 31 since 1976.
Belo's 2007 national awards follow an impressive showing in the
2007 regional competitions where 10 Belo stations garnered 27
regional Murrow Awards. Details follow about the national awards
given to Belo stations: -- In the large-market television category,
Belo's NBC station in Seattle/Tacoma, KING-TV, received an award
for its Web site, KING5.com, which was recognized as the
outstanding large-market Web site, an honor the station has
received in three of the last four years. -- Also, in the
large-market category, WCNC-TV, Belo's NBC station in Charlotte,
was given top honors for its feature report, "Unbreakable Kos,"
about an adopted Serbian teenager who excels at football, despite
having to walk with the help of two prosthetic legs. The report was
hosted by Mike Redding and photographed/edited by Andy Benton for
the station's local program, "Carolina Traveler." -- In the
small-market television category, KVUE-TV, Belo's ABC station in
Austin, was recognized for Overall Excellence by consistently
demonstrating significant depth, scope and quality in its news
coverage, writing and videography. -- Also, in the small-market
television category Belo's NBC affiliate in Boise, KTVB, won in the
Sports Reporting category for its feature called "Olympic Comeback"
about a young Boise girl diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis who
fought through pain and endless training to eventually participate

announced a total of 26 national Edward R. Murrow Awards for
television stations in the large and small-market television
