NEW YORK, Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company released a short video documentary celebrating Theodore Krause, CLU, the organization's oldest active financial professional. Krause began his career in 1947 as a life insurance agent with the firm, then known as The Equitable Life Assurance Society of America. He still works with clients every day.

"Ted has long impressed his peers with his dedication to his clients and high standards for professional excellence," said David Karr, a divisional executive vice president for AXA Advisors in the Philadelphia area and Krause's manager. "His enthusiasm for life and his commitment to family, community and clients serve as inspiration for us all."

In a candid interview, Krause reflects on his successful 65-year life insurance career, why he remains engaged in helping people with their financial needs, and why he has no plans to retire. Krause also shares how he and his wife, Sarah, 101 years old, planned for and enjoy their longevity together.

"Ted Krause has been helping people protect against loss and prepare for the future for a significant part of our company's 152-year history," said Andrew McMahon, president of AXA Equitable. "Through bull and bear markets and economic booms and busts, Ted has steadily advised his clients, their children and now grandchildren on preparing for a financially secure future."

Planning for 100 years of living is increasingly important. The United States has the most centenarians in the world. In 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 70,000 people were aged 100 or older. That number is expected to more than double to 200,000 in the next 20 years and triple from that level to more than 600,000 by 2050. More than half of the babies born today in wealthy countries, including the United States, can expect to live to age 100, according to an article published in The Lancet medical journal*.

"Ted and his wife are living proof that it is important to prepare for the long term," McMahon said. "In today's challenging environment, Ted's professional perspective and personal experience on financial planning is invaluable."

The video captures Krause's perspective on preparing for the unexpected, weathering market volatility, keeping up with the times, and staying educated. In documentary style, the camera follows Krause on a typical workday, from punctual arrival at the office to his regular midday swim at the local YMCA.
