Ike Davis Wins Game MVP and Sparks West Team to Victory In Second Annual AFLAC All-American High School Baseball Classic - Andrew McCutchen Sets AFLAC All-American Record with Four Hits - ABERDEEN, Md., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ike Davis (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned Most Valuable Player honors at the second annual AFLAC All- American High School Baseball Classic at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md., as the West Team defeated the East Team, 4-2 in front of a crowd of 4,006. Davis hit the go-ahead home run in the bottom of the second inning to give the West Team a 2-1 lead. Cameron Maybin, John Drennen (San Diego, Calif.), Brett Wallace (Sonoma, Calif.) and Ben Booker (Bruceville, Texas) also set new a new AFLAC All-American record, recording two stolen bases each. In all, nine East pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts, including three from Sean O'Sullivan's (El Cajon, Calif.). Nine West pitchers also combined for 14 strikeouts, with Shane Funk (Panama City, Fla.) striking out three batters as well. Jordan Danks, the star outfielder from Round Rock High School (Round Rock, Texas) won the second annual AFLAC All-American Home Run Derby to beat Cameron Maybin (Arden, N.C.). Danks had a total of six home runs over the two rounds, while Maybin smashed four balls out of the park. The official charity for the Home Run Derby is CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation. The 2004 AFLAC All-American Baseball Classic raised $60,000 for the division of pediatric oncology at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, the game's official charity, as part of AFLAC's ongoing commitment to support research and treatment of pediatric cancer.
