With the holiday season underway, many people will be looking for ways to eat healthy while enjoying holiday festivities and avoiding the unhealthy eating options available at almost every family gathering and office party. Later this week, Aetna (NYSE: AET) will be recognizing the value of creating nutritious and delicious meals by crowning the winner of The Aetna Healthy Food Fight contest.

The final event of the national cooking contest will take place on Friday, December 2 at ABC Studios in Times Square. Bobby Flay will be one of the judges at this event, which will feature the four winners of The Aetna Healthy Food Fight regional semi-final cook-offs preparing their award-winning dishes and competing for the grand prize of $10,000 worth of groceries from Recipe.com.

“The Aetna Healthy Food Fight contest has not only been a great nationwide competition, it has also helped encourage tens of thousands of people to incorporate healthy cooking and eating into their everyday lives,” said Bobby Flay, critically acclaimed chef/restaurateur, cookbook author and TV personality. “I am looking forward to serving as a judge for the finale and helping Aetna and a panel of expert judges determine the healthiest chef and winner of The Aetna Healthy Food Fight.”

In addition to announcing the winner of the national cooking contest, Aetna will also recognize the “fan favorite” who received the most votes through The Healthy Food Fight website. The “fan favorite” will then have the opportunity to donate $10,000 to a charity that incorporates healthy cooking and nutrition into their overall mission.

While the competition will be taking place inside ABC Studios, people walking through Times Square will have an opportunity to participate in the finale also. Five individuals who text “HEALTHY’ to 90822 between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm on the day of the finale will be chosen by random drawing and allowed into the finale to meet Bobby Flay. The winners will be notified shortly after the contest ends and will have the chance to bring a guest to meet Bobby Flay before the event concludes at 2 pm.

In addition, people in the area can have their photo taken and featured on the ABC “Super Sign” outside of ABC Studios.
