BOSTON, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston Sports Clubs
(BSC), a leading owner and operator of health and fitness clubs in
the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States area, has provided Season 10
"Biggest Loser" competitor and Boston native, Brendan
Donovan, with personal training, coaching and continued
motivation over the past three months in preparation for "The
Biggest Loser" season finale airing Tuesday,
December 14 (9-11 p.m. ET) on
NBC. Donovan is a featured contestant in the popular reality
show, "The Biggest Loser," which challenges and encourages
overweight contestants to shed pounds in a safe and recommended
manner through comprehensive diet and exercise as they compete for
a grand prize of $250,000. NASM
certified Boston Sports Clubs master trainer, Earl Strong, who knew Donovan from high School
and is now his personal trainer, has been working with Donovan
since he returned to Boston after
leaving "The Biggest Loser" ranch in September.
"Brendan is a wonderful example of how people can change their
lives through exercise," said Strong. "Being a part of his
journey has been an inspiration to me and to members at the club
who have seen his transformation these past three months.
Brendan is a winner no matter what happens on the season
finale."
Donovan's commitment to fitness is evident by his rigorous
exercise regimen. In addition to his personal training
sessions with Strong, Donovan is also a regular in Boston Sports
Clubs' various group exercise classes such as spinning. He
also does three hour workouts twice a day for his cardiovascular
training.
Season 10 Biggest Loser Contestant, thirty-two-year-old
Brendan Donovan, grew up in
Boston and was an athlete in high
school despite battling weight issues. He went on to earn a
degree in criminology at Florida State
and then a master's degree in special education at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. A lethal
combination of poor eating habits, lack of motivation and exercise
level as an adult contributed to his starting weight of 362 pounds.
The weight gain had an impact on his personal and professional
life. Four years ago, he ended his relationship with his
fiance because he couldn't deal with his weight issues. Formerly a
police officer, he is now a special education teacher at and the
creator of an afterschool weightlifting/wellness program for inner
city kids in Boston - but he feels
like it's hypocritical to teach students how to eat healthy and
exercise in his current unhealthy physical state. Brendan was
inspired by fellow Bostonians and Season 5 contestants Mark and Jay Kruger, and hopes to gain
everything back in his life that he lost due to his obesity. He
looks forward to being a better role model to his students, and
fitting in the seats at Boston's
famed Fenway Park once he loses the
weight.
