SI International Awarded New Task Order Supporting DoD's National
Security Personnel System RESTON, Va., Feb. 8
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SI International, Inc. (NASDAQ:SINT), an
information technology and network solutions (IT) company, today
announced that the Department of Defense (DoD) has selected SI
International to provide training support for DoD's implementation
of its progressive civilian personnel system, the National Security
Personnel System (NSPS). The task order that covers preparation for
first phase roll out is approximately $1.9 million with potential
for additional funding through follow-on task orders and for future
phases of implementation. SI International will assist the DoD in
the development and delivery of content-specific technical,
operational, and management training addressing pay and
classification, performance management, staffing and workforce
shaping, adverse actions, and labor-management relations. The
training involves informing and educating the DoD civilian
workforce about the NSPS, a performance-based human capital
initiative. Over 300,000 U.S.-based Army, Navy, Air Force and DoD
agency civilian employees will participate in the training courses
during the first phase, which is scheduled to begin during the
summer of 2005. NSPS is one of Defense Secretary Donald H.
Rumsfeld's key initiatives for the transformation of DoD operations
to better meet the military's needs for the 21st century. Given the
global war on terrorism, the role of DoD's civilian workforce is
expanding to include more significant participation in combat
support functions that will allow military personnel to focus on
mission-critical warfighting duties. About SI International: SI
